Homecare beds are designed for scenarios such as home-based elderly care, post-operative rehabilitation at home, and chronic condition management. The bed itself features three basic functions—backrest elevation, leg elevation, and overall bed height adjustment—and is no different from a standard smart bed. The difference lies in the drive system, which uses medical-grade actuators offering a higher ingress protection (IP) rating and a longer design life. Depending on the patient's specific care requirements and the bed's structural design, homecare beds can be configured with different drive solutions—either using a dual actuator to achieve basic backrest and leg elevation adjustments, or employing multiple independent linear actuators to enable a wider range of care functions such as turning, sitting up, and tilting.

Key features and benefits
Medical-grade drive system – more professional care at home
Homecare beds offer the same functionality as standard smart beds for the home; the difference lies in the grade of the drive system. Medical-grade drives feature a higher ingress protection (IP) rating (IPX6 and above), effectively resisting the ingress of liquids and dust during routine cleaning. Stricter durability testing standards and a longer design life ensure the product remains stable and reliable even under the demands of frequent use over several years in a home care setting.
Dual actuator — compact design, suitable for basic care bed models
The dual actuator integrates the backrest and leg section motors into a single compact drive unit, offering a sleek appearance and convenient installation. The two motors can control the elevation of the backrest and leg section independently, or work in unison to raise or lower the entire bed simultaneously, making it suitable for care scenarios where basic position adjustment is the primary requirement. The worm gear transmission provides greater self-locking force, ensuring the bed is securely locked in any position.
Linear actuator solution — multiple independently controlled actuators for a wider range of care functions
The linear actuator solution uses multiple independent actuators to control different sections of the bed, enabling a wider range of care functions such as automatic turning, sitting up, and head-high/foot-low tilt positioning, as required. Since each actuator operates independently, this facilitates future maintenance and replacement. Both solutions feature built-in Hall effect sensors for integration with the customer's control system.
Silent operation — preserving peace and quiet in the bedroom
The home bedroom environment is highly sensitive to noise. The medical-grade actuators maintain extremely low noise levels during operation, ensuring they do not disturb the user's rest or disrupt the daily lives of family members.
Richmat's engineers provide end-to-end technical support—from needs assessment and solution design through to product delivery—safeguarding every moment of home care and peaceful recuperation with reliable, medical-grade linear drive systems.
